The PEG RV 5500 is a valve grinding machine specifically designed and built to reface the large valves found in heavy-duty engines.
Thanks to its wide working range, it is widely used in workshops serving the naval, railway and aeronautical sectors, as well as earthmoving and large industrial vehicles, wherever oversized engine valves need to be reconditioned to precise tolerances.
Built on a solid cast-iron base, the machine uses a valve-locking spindle that clamps stems up to Ø 40 mm with a minimum length of 95 mm, extending up to 750 mm with the support bezel, allowing it to handle valves far longer and larger than a standard automotive refacer.
The comfortable control panel is located in front of the operator and houses:
- Start/stop wheel rotation
- Start/stop valve rotation
- Start/stop coolant pump
- Valve rotation speed adjustment
For operator safety, the PEG RV 5500 is also equipped with an emergency stop button in line with current regulations.
It is supplied with a corundum grinding wheel Ø 175 × 30 mm, 70 grit, which can be replaced with optional silicon carbide, cubitron or titanium wheels, while its rich set of standard accessories also allows dressing of the wheel, stem grinding and chamfering.
The machine already includes the coolant pump, a transparent plexiglass splash shield and an adjustable LED light, and can be further enhanced with extras such as the variable wheel rotation speed, the large-valve roller kit or the sheet-metal cabinet on wheels.
APPLICATIONS
The PEG RV 5500 is the specialist valve refacer for big engines: marine and ship engines, railway and locomotive units, aeronautical engines, and the large diesel engines of earthmoving and industrial machinery.
With valve heads up to Ø 200 mm, stems up to Ø 40 mm and lengths up to 750 mm, it reconditions valves well beyond the reach of a standard machine. For everyday automotive and light-commercial valves, the PEG RV 3000 valve refacer is the more suitable choice.
